Enga set to lead in health, education sectors

ENGA Province is heading towards being the leader in health and education sectors in the near future.

This is visible with the new Enga provincial hospital and the innovative university concept taking shape in the province.

Both are major projects of the provincial government and are one of a kind in the country, the Prime Minister of PNG, James Marape and the Higher Education Minster Wesley Raminai confirmed last week in Enga.

“No provincial government in the country has built teachers colleges, nursing colleges, and a modern seven star hospital as yet. Enga Province has built it,” Mr Raminai said. He said the two projects are of national importance.

“Students from all over the country are going to come here because Enga is providing space for the tertiary education services,” he said.

Mr Raminai said he commends the leadership of the province.

“Sir Peter Ipatas had a dream for this province and it was not a mistake that the people of Enga has kept him for the last 25 years as their regional MP. The dreams he had are slowly unfolding and in the near future Enga will be the education and health hub for this country,” he said.

Mr Marape said Waigani will come to Enga because of the work being done in the province.

“Sir Peter, the leader of education service delivery in the country, representing the country, let me congratulate your vision in education and health. You are the champion in these two sectors,” he said.

Mr Marape said in the next three to four years time they will link the campuses in the province under Enga Innovative University.

Sir Peter said he does not need to play politics in what has been done because the people have seen and know what is happening in the province.

“When I get back after this election, we will focus on completing our hospital and continue improving facilities of our campuses for our innovative university which is the amalgamation of the colleges in the province.”
